Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. Hosts a Reception to Celebrate the Restoration of Historic Case File - Houston, TX
HOUSTON, TX - Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. will sponsor a reception to celebrate the restoration of the original case file in G.A. Stowers Furniture Co. vs. American Indemnity Co., No. 110,139 (11th Dist. Ct., Harris Co., Tex.), on March 27, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Harris County Civil Courthouse in Houston, TX.

The Stowers case, tried and appealed in 1930, remains a cornerstone of Texas insurance law. It provides the framework for the legal relationship among insurers, their insureds, and defense counsel, which is still relevant and applicable today to all Texas businesses and industries.

“These trial files tell the story of our county and Houston from a unique perspective.,” said Brown McCarroll partner Marcy Rothman. “With a little time and effort, we can help our community understand the changing times from political, social and commercial viewpoints. It is very exciting.”

Rothman, a cancer patient at Baylor Clinic, wants to give something back to the legal community and to the community at large that have provided her with so much support. “This is our chance to recognize and honor all of the elements of our society, including the minority voice that has added so much to this city,” she said recently.
